Last week MechE alum Bobby Dyer, BS ’01, MS ’03, stopped by our Medical Device Design class to share his journey and insights from over the past decade helping to turn what started as a research project in Prof. Ian Hunter’s BioInstrumentation Lab, into Portal Instruments’ pioneering needle-free drug delivery platform. As Chief Device Architect, Dyer gave the students a privileged look into the challenges of designing safe, reliable, high-performance medical equipment, why sweating the details matters, and the potential for social benefit. Having our alums share their enthusiasm and inspiration is always appreciated!
